We were skulking about the show floor at I/ITSEC 2016, and it was a surreal experience! The most common question I received was “is there anybody who isn’t using your software here?” SilverLining‘s 3D clouds and skies, and Triton‘s 3D water, were ubiquitous. I didn’t keep an exact count, but at least 20 booths were showcasing scenes that include our technology. That in itself is nothing new, but our tech was a prominent part of the show’s largest displays this time around.
For those unfamiliar with this conference, I/ITSEC is the biggest conference in the US each year for the military training and simulation industry. This industry is still Sundog Software’s bread and butter, as fast, realistic simulation of natural environments is critical to effective flight and maritime training. Training and simulation has specific needs that video game oriented software doesn’t meet, such as the ability to display arbitrary conditions in a physically realistic manner that can span the entire globe. Sundog Software meets those requirements at a very modest licensing fee, and so we’ve found a nice little niche here.
A huge thank you to all of our customers, new and old, who have worked closely with us to refine SilverLining and Triton over the years! Together we’ve made training more realistic, fun, and affordable.
